The DP chemistry course allows students to develop a wide range of practical skills and to increase facility in the use of mathematics. The assessment model of chemistry SL consists of three papers. Paper 1 is a 45 minutes exam which contains 30 multiple-choice questions; weighing 20% of the final grade. Paper 2 is a 1.25 hours exam which contains short-answer and extended-response (core) weighing 40% of the final grade. Paper 3 is a one hour exam which contains data-based and practical-based questions, plus short-answer and extended-response questions on the optional topic; weighing 20% of the final grade. The individual investigation is a write up of six to twelve pages (10 Hours Duration) weighing 20% of the final grade.

The IB DP Chemistry higher level (HL) course contains eleven core topics (Duration 95 Hours) and ten additional higher level (AHL) topics (Duration 60 Hours) and an optional topic (Duration 25 Hours) and a practical scheme of work (Duration 60 Hours).

The assessment model of Chemistry HL consists of three papers. Paper 1 is an hour exam which contains 40 multiple-choice questions weighing 20% of the final grade. Paper 2 is a 2.25 hours exam which contains short-answer and extended-response questions (core & AHL); weighing 36% of the final grade. Paper 3 is a 1.25 hours exam which contains data-and-practical-based questions, plus short and extended-response questions on the optional topics; weighing 24% of the final grade. The internal assessment is of 10 hours duration. The individual investigation is a write up of six to twelve pages (10 Hours Duration) weighing 20% of the final grade.
